My morning routine is never fixed — it ebbs and flows with my mood and schedule for the day. But that cuppa joe? That’s my constant. That’s mandatory.
I drink two cups of morning coffee on most days, but these days I’ve been experimenting with different drink recipes to switch it up a little. Bonus points if I can sneak in a health boost at the same time amidst my busy schedule.
So imagine my excitement when I made this deliciously warm, spiced Turmeric Apple Cider Vinegar and Oat Milk Latte that seemed to satisfy my coffee cravings (no easy feat!). Since it’s caffeine-free, it’s also the perfect beverage for a late afternoon perk-me-up that is both energizing and nourishing.

Turmeric is a spice that has garnered a considerable amount of interest in both the East and West medicinal fields as well as the culinary world. As a herb from the ginger family, it’s highly regarded for its anti-inflammatory medicinal properties in both Western and TCM medicine.
In the world of masterchefs, turmeric and ginger are also an amazing spice that lends much flavor to a whole lot of dishes. It’s also a spice that is hugely used in cuisines such as Thai and Peranakan.
The medicinal properties of turmeric come from curcumin, a polyphenol that is linked to anti-inflammatory and therapeutic effects.
And this Turmeric, Apple Cider Vinegar and Oat Milk Latte contains a whole lot of curcumin. Studies have also linked turmeric with reducing anxiety and enhancing muscle recovery.
The health benefits of turmeric and apple cider vinegar is hardly a fad. In fact, turmeric has been a herb that is used widely in the ancient Ayurvedic tradition.
According to Ayurveda, it’s important to eat sattvic foods for our minds to stay clear and calm and for our bodies to be in a balanced state.
Examples of sattvic foods: fresh fruit and vegetables, pure fruit juices, nuts, seeds, milk, ghee etc.
Common spices used in sattvic cooking: turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, fennel and cardamom — precisely the ingredients that make up this yummy Turmeric, Apple Cider Vinegar and Oat Milk Latte.
The ingredients like turmeric and apple cider vinegar can be pretty strong, but the punchy flavors are softened and balanced out by the oat milk. I always feel like my stomach isn’t quite ready to digest a full meal when I wake in the mornings, so this Turmeric Apple Cider Vinegar Almond Milk feels like a perfect drink that’s not too demanding on the digestive system and helps to awaken the body gently yet powerfully.
The recipe for this Turmeric, Apple Cider Vinegar and Oat Milk Latte is very much Ayurvedic-inspired but experimented in my own kitchen according to my personal preferences — feel free to make it your own!
Ingredients:
- 4 tbsp grated turmeric
- 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
- 200ml oat milk, heated up in a saucepan or frothed with a milk frother
- A pinch of black pepper or cayenne pepper
- A pinch of ground cinnamon
Put all the ingredients into a blender and blend on the highest speed until everything is combined. Strain into a glass and drink it hot immediately.
